Fond farewells today after four years to Jacob, who has been such a blessing to us in Bermondsey, pictured here with Paul, our Urban Missioner, and Ruth our wonderful administrator.
On
a recent trip to Jordan I saw many flocks of sheeps and goats out in
the desert.
Everyone was accompanied by a shepherd who looked after the
sheep, led them to pasture where they could feed, and the sources of the
water they needed for life.
God's people need shepherds too. To care for his flock. To lead them. To feed them with the word of God.
Jacob has been a great shepherd of the flock here in Bermondsey and now he goes to tend the flock of St Brigid's, Mallusk.
Its
a high calling and a wonderful calling and we pray for him as he
embarks upon it, as we prayed in church this morning, that he will be
'strong through the grace that is ours in union with Christ Jesus' as he
follows the call of the Lord Jesus to 'take care of my sheep.'
