Jon and Simon Dyer of FA Albins funeral directors were two of the patrons of our Bermondsey joyslide project, and now Albins have provided this beautiful commemorative plaque for the slide. Thank you Albins.

Leavers Service

It's always a special moment for us at St James where our Year 6 leavers come to church for their Leavers Service.

This has been a year of Covid curtailled activity but it was good to have an in-person service in church even if it could only be for the 70 leaving children (and their teachers), and not the whole school gathered to say goodbye and to pray for them as the left for their new schools.

They shared their memories of their time at St James, Jacob spoke from Colossians (So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,  rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness), each of them was presented with a copy of the Bible 'the most valuable thing that the world affords ' and, in the words of this video (which we played), we prayed for God's blessing on them:

Sunday school returns

One more step on the way to Covid recovery, we were able to re-start Sunday School today at St James.

Here's the south lounge all set up and ready for the kids to arrive.

Congratulations, Delorine

Congratulations to Delorine presiding at Holy Communion for the first time today at St Peter's Walworth.

We so enjoyed having Delorine with us at St James as part of her training. Every blessing to you Delorine.

Men's Brekkie

After a long Covid-induced break it was really good to get back together for a Men's Breakfast at St James this norning.

We sat down to the usual full cooked breakfast - table service rather than collect you own from the servery, to comply with the Covid regs, and we heard Michael talk about the story of his life and faith, taking in the story of how God has spoken to him and drawn himself to himsef in numerous ways, his work in the Civil Service and his current member of St Anselm's Community at Lambeth, alongside his membership of St James.

Thank you, Michael, for sharing so much of yourself.

The next Men's Breakfast is in September.
