Bermondsey's pride
A recent visitor to the St James with family links going back to 1913 when his grandparents were married there, sent us this poem about the church (thanks Tony):
Since 1829 she's been standing there,
Baptisms, marriages and deaths,
She has seen her fair share,
She's survived two world wars,
She still stands tall,
The sound of her bells,
Have given comfort to all,
Her face shows the time,
But does not wrinkle with age,
In her Bermondsey home,
She stands centre stage,
She will out live us all,
Her chimes will always be loud,
St James Church,
You've done Bermondsey Proud
